1 can Refrigerated Quick Crescent Dinner Rolls
8 ounces cream cheese — softened
1/4 cup sugar
2 teaspoons lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon grated lemon peel
3 eggs yolks
21 oz can apple pie filling
Topping:
3 egg whites
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup chopped nuts
Heat oven to 375 degrees. Unroll dough into 2 long rectangles in ungreased 13 x 9-inch pan; press over bottom and 1/2 inch up sides to form crust. Firmly press perforations to seal. Combine cream cheese, sugar, lemon juice, lemon peel and egg yolks; beat on medium speed of electric mixer until smooth and well blended. Pour into prepared crust. Bake at 375 degrees for 15 to 18 minutes or until set. Spoon apple filling over cream cheese layer.
In small bowl, beat egg whites until frothy; gradually add 1/4 cup sugar, beating until stiff peaks form. Drop by spoonfuls over apple filling. Sprinkle with nuts. Bake 8-10 minutes longer or until meringue is lightly browned. Cut into squares. Serve warm. Refrigerate leftovers. 12 servings.
